Announcing DMBLGiT July 2015 (and something new!)

DMBLGiT Jul 2015 Template v2

We re-launched DMBLGiT in February 2015… just about five months ago.

Since then we’ve got a lot of support! Amazing energy from the food bloggers community… so much so that the hosting spots for the next 12 months were filled in matter of weeks. At LFP we are committed to bring DMBLGiT back to it full life and take it beyond and then some…

At least twice a year, LFP will host DMBLGiT contest to put all our energy in this contest. This is one of those months. And this month, we are again trying something new. Here’s what that is… We are introducing co-hosting for DMBLGiT.

In addition to LFP hosting this contest, we have invited three other food bloggers to co-host with us. By co-hosting we can spread the contest and invite more participants. The contest quality improves and winners get more exposure and wider reach.

This month, we have three amazing co-hosts. So let’s meet the co-hosts.

Meet DMBLGiT Co-hosts

All three co-hosts have hosted DMBLGiT in past and have done it really well.

Co-Host #1 – Deeba Rajpal

Deeba is a well known recipe developer, food writer and food photographer… and knows where to find props in your city. Trust me when I say  this, she knows it all. She is an outstanding food stylist, has been working with India’s topnotch chefs on food photography projects. In food blogging community she is known for one of the top blogs in India – Passionate About Baking

Co-Host # 2 – Deepali Jain

Deepali is a Fashion Technologist by education, professional Buyer for fashion brands (anyone jealous yet?) and food blogger and photographer by passion. Her blog Lemon in Ginger was started only few years ago and in that time the blog has seen rapidly popularity. Check out her blog at Lemon in

Co-Host # 3 – Nicole Branan

Nicole is food photographer and stylist and her work has been published in cookbooks, print and online publications like Real Simple, Oprah and SELF. In just about two years since starting her blog The Spice Train, she has been interviewed by and invited as a guest on more than half a dozen blogs.

Now that you’ve met our co-hosts, let’s look at the judging criteria and dates and deadlines…

How to Win This – Judging Criteria

Photographs are reviewed by a panel of judges, who score them in three categories: edibility, aesthetics, and originality. The host then compiles the scores to determine the winners. The specific things the judges will be looking for are as follows:

– Aesthetics: composition, food styling, lighting, focus, etc.
– Edibility: “does the photo make us want to dive in and eat the food?”
– Originality: the photograph that catches our attention and makes us want to say “wow!”, displaying something we might not have seen before.
– Overall Winner: top overall scores in all three categories combined.

There are three overall winners for photographs with the highest point totals in all three categories combined, and one winner in each of the three individual categories.

This how we select the winners and you can participate and improve your food photography.
